Thrilling launches, cool challenges and thrilling chases will be presented by Faszination Modellbau at the Drone Championship Finale in Hall A6. The e-athletes in hoodies and baseball caps sit intently at the super-sensitive controllers. Behind their video goggles, apparently not a sound is heard. But then it starts: 3, 2, 1, ACTION! With whirring sound, the racing drones shoot through the obstacle-strewn, treacherous course with their small, powerful electric drives. The demands on the pilots’ reactions and concentration are high. The aircraft is controlled via a live video link from the drone camera, as if you were on board yourself – FPV = “First Person View”, is the name of the principle. In parallel, the audience is directly connected to the view of the multicopters via big screens during each flight maneuver and thus fully integrated into the real and digital drone action. Crashes are always part of the action, which is why the winning drone is also accompanied by frenetic applause when it chases through the finish gate. And this indoor highlight is not just for drone insiders. The small sports machines have an amazing mix of technology: they combine a powerful computer, attitude sensors, the latest battery technology, carbon frames and a high-performance camera, which has played a big part in the drone boom. Multicopter models of the latest generation even have a tracking function to film the owner in his outdoor action at any time. A mega-thrill with a lot of testosterone for the pilots as well as for the audience and organized by a big promoter of the scene: Team Aircrasher.
