Tasker Little Giant in Friedrichshafen

Faszination Modellbau Internationale Leitmesse für Modellbahnen und Modellbau Bild Tasker Little Giant 05 scaled uai

The original “Little Giant” traction engine was manufactured by W.Tasker & Sons Ltd. in Andover from May 1904. The name says it all, since the Type A2, at 4.4 tons, was more of a lightweight among road machines and designed for maneuverable use and lighter towing tasks and delivery services, e.g. in cities.

At around 2.7 tons, the 1:1.3 scale model is therefore one of the largest and heaviest steam model replicas in Germany. The single-cylinder steam engine has a piston diameter of 114 mm. The boiler measures a good 150cm in length and has a diameter of 40 cm. With 125 liters of water capacity, it develops an operating pressure of 13.8 bar at a steam temperature of about 193 degrees Celsius. Thus, the “little giant” is certainly one of the most unusual models that can be experienced in operation and in appearance and operation very close to the original.
