Press release from 03.09.2025: Introducing the 28 model railroad layouts at Faszination Modellbau Friedrichshafen 2025!
Gauge 2m (G): Segment layout “Hammerundermeadowvalley”
The garden railroad is considered the big one among the small ones. Locomotives and wagons that even children can pick up without dad yelling for help right away. In addition, there is a richness of detail that can also be perceived with the naked eye. The IIm show layout of the LGB friends from the Lower Rhine, consisting of 12 segments offers on a total area of 15 x 5 m everything you could wish for on a model railroad. Up to 15 trains are in operation at the same time. Detailed scenes especially please the female viewers. Due to a track height of only 70 centimeters, even small children can view the miniature world. In addition to a colliery with a 140-centimeter-high winding tower and wind turbines, there are many richly furnished industrial complexes and stately homes. Controlled digitally and by radio with the Massoth system. On about 150 meters of track with about 40 switches, a lively railroad operation is possible on two levels. Saxon and Lower Rhine motifs can be found on the layout. Since American narrow gauge vehicles also like to travel, the Saxon station Hammerunterwiesenthal and thus the layout was renamed “Hammerundermeadowyvalley”.
Operator: LGB-Freunde Niederrhein, D-47228 Duisburg
Plant size: 15 x 5 m
Track 2/2m (G): North SeaLive
On approx. 11 square meters, this model railroad on a scale of 1:22.5 shows a coastal scene with typical North Sea vehicles on narrow gauge (45-millimeter model track) and standard gauge (64-millimeter model track). The layout has a large photo background and with its many small details (from water in the harbor basin to mice on the ceiling beams of the engine shed) invites you to linger and watch.
As there is no closed rail circle, rail traffic runs “point to point” and the train drivers have a lot to do. Live operation” is therefore shown.

System size: 11.2 x 1 m
Track GN15: Wooden goods factory Bernhard Brettl
In the “Christmas land” of the Erzgebirge, there are still many small craft businesses that produce wooden toys and Christmas items. An example of this was recreated here with a smile, a lot of coziness and exaggeration, and the very outdated field railway operation to be seen fits in with this, in order to bring the wood required for this between the sawmill and the small wooden goods factory, in which the machines are still driven by water power, or to transport the manufactured toys away. In the upper left area, visitors sit in a small beer garden with a brewery, taking a break and watching the hustle and bustle on the factory premises. Many different vehicles, all of which were built in-house except for the chassis, are on the move on the practical track layout with manually operated turntables and a bascule bridge.
Next door is an old board mill with a mill wheel, where the logs are cut with loud sawing noises. Bernhard Brettl’s house impresses with its beautiful half-timbering. There is still a rail connection to the rock cellar, where the draught beer from the small home brewery can be stored.

Track 1: 100 years of the BR 01 express locomotive and 75 years of the DB new steam locomotive
A 1:32 scale depot with two turntables will be on display, with two parade line-ups of 14 and 10 locomotives respectively on the theme. All locomotives will be presented from all sides on the turntables and moved on the BW module. Turntable 1 will feature 14 variants of the 01 series and show the development of the 01 locomotive series up to its decommissioning by the DB and DR.
The result is a broad overview of the more than 50 years of service of the original 01 series!
At turntable 2, 10 steam locomotives from the new steam locomotive program of the German Federal Railroad from 1950 will be on display. From the Class 10 to the Classes 23, 82, 65 and 66, including all 6 variants of the Class 23!
Both steam locomotive parades impressively trace the development of steam locomotive construction in Germany from 1925 to 1959!

US size Standard Gauge (54mm): US tinplate railroads of the twenties
Vehicles from Lionel, American Flyer and Ives. All of the exhibits date from 1901 to 1939 and most of them are over 100 years old.
US Standard Gauge (gauge) was the standard gauge in the USA before the Great Depression of the 1930s. However, this gauge is not compatible with European gauge II, the US Standard Gauge (gauge) is wider.
The models are very popular with US collectors due to their bright colors and glittering bronze applications (trim). They are not true-to-scale reproductions of the real locomotives, but are at best based on certain originals of their time.
We, the Tinplate Players Association, are probably the only collectors in Europe for this gauge.
4 collectors have collected almost the entire program from this period and are presenting the exhibits for the first time in Europe on a large 4-circuit layout. All of the decorations are also from these manufacturers from this period. Many moving accessories such as figures, signals and level crossings complete the layout to create an overall picture of the US model railroad of the 1920s.

System size: 12 x 3 m
Track 0e: Hubi’s four seasons
The exhibition layout is divided into 4 module parts! The theme is “The four seasons” spring, summer, fall and winter.
The track runs through the entire scenery, partly hidden by tunnels and mountains in the background. Hubertus Klein started to build the very beautiful model railroad layout in 0e gauge in November 2023 and laid approx. 12 m of track and installed 3 turnouts, the construction time was approx. 10 months in a so-called full-time job!
The layout has not yet been shown at any major events!
Operator: Hubertus Klein, D-57489 Drolshagen
System size: 5 x 2 m
Track 0: From nothing to zero
The layout consists of twelve parts, which are supported by a metal base. With a length of 720 cm and a maximum depth of 300 cm, the footprint is not too large for a 0-gauge layout. This has resulted in a compact design with a relatively large number of tracks.
A turning loop has been built on one side to allow alternating traffic with several trains or train sets. On the other side, the trains are transferred to another track with a 140 cm long rolling bridge, which cannot be seen by spectators.
Some sidings allow the demonstration of beautiful locomotives or the performance of a shunting game during train operation.
The line is technically complete, is controlled with i-Train, the landscape, buildings etc. are well under construction.

Track H0: Module assembly Limitless
Markus Horn came up with the idea of a module assembly group at a Märklin Insider regulars’ table, where we wanted to offer the members free development of their modules. The only requirement was the size of the modules and that Märklin C-track should be used.
The rest is up to the builder’s imagination. This has resulted in modules that are pure madness.
From mountains and towns to Bran Castle. From the small idyll to the chemical plant and from the army barracks to the locomotive museum.
Normal commercial materials were used as well as parts created from garbage.
A double-track main line runs from a siding across all modules, with all trains and carriages from all eras. The whole thing is controlled by ESU Ecos. Many lights that work independently of the power circuit and also some pushbuttons for the spectators round off the whole picture.
Märklin MS2 also offers operation on branch lines, independently of the main line. Faller Carsystem as well as Viessmann Carmotion can be found on the modules.
There are many little things to discover, but also large masterpieces, such as a marketplace with 7000 stones and a cemetery wall with 3000 stones from Juweela were painstakingly built on the module by a builder.
Modulbaugruppe Grenzenlos, it’s called because we have 24 members from Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg, making us an international group of Märklin crazy model railroaders. Some YouTube stars from the model railroad scene are also part of it and can be met live and talk shop about their modules.

H0 gauge: Saarland impressions
With the plant, a perfect image of their Saarland home was created. A double-track main line runs through rolling green hills, past half-timbered houses and vineyards. It was created over many years of painstaking work one of 2173 handmade vines. A country road also winds through the area. The focus is on vehicles that have been familiar for decades, from the ocean-blue and beige 216 to the old sheet-metal Rheingold cars. Up to 9 trains can run on the layout. The operational center is the five-track through station at St. Wendel (Saar). It is the starting point of a double-track main line. The romantic landscape is interrupted by industrial plants and shopping malls, just like the original. In the industrial area, sidings ensure busy shunting operations.

H0 gauge: Model railroad layout “Trixbergen”
Our “Trixbergen” model railroad layout consists of 17 segments. There are two six-track staging yards underground and a six-track track table at the end of the layout. This ensures varied and realistic operation. The atmospheric fantasy landscape is reminiscent of the Bavarian foothills of the Alps in Era IV. A double-track main line and a single-track branch line meet on eight tracks at the main station “Trixbergen”. There is a lot of activity here, with national and international passenger trains, heavy freight trains, special transports and the leisurely trains of the branch line. Next to the main station are several businesses (including a red light district) and a small railroad depot. Behind it is the town center with a lively weekly market. To the side is the surrounding countryside, characterized by agriculture and forestry. It then becomes rocky, a mountain stream with a waterfall flows into the lively “Badesee am Wasserschloss” and then flows through a green valley, lined with rock faces and accompanied by the double-track main line. The branch line winds its way up into the heights, past a castle and a sawmill until it finally reaches the idyllic mountain village of Peterswalde at the end of the layout. At the touch of a button, visitors can bring the layout to life at various points and immerse themselves in the detailed world of Trixbergen.

H0 gauge: Between the Alps and the Jura
The modular network “Between the Alps and the Jura” is freely inspired by landscapes, places and stations on the Swiss Plateau between the 1970s and the late 1990s. This period allows for a wide variety of rolling stock and train compositions: mixed trains (freight and passenger), local trains, diverted long-distance trains, freight trains, etc. It is a single-track line with standard gauge operated by SBB.
The modular network “between the Alps and the Jura” was designed by two model railroad enthusiasts. They created their own module standard called “compact modules”, which is based on the “Minimax module”.

H0 gauge: Children’s play layout + layout with US motifs
The children’s play layout is 2.20 m long and 1.20 m wide. It is a 2-rail H0 layout and Piko A track has been installed. There are 6 points to switch and a prototypical operation of the signaling of a railroad can be simulated. But you can also just play.
The main motif is a multi-track station. For shunting operations, individual track sections can be disconnected from the traction current using a toggle switch. The train control is digital and the locomotives are operated using the Roco Lokmaus.
There is no specific model for the US layout. It was also built in H0 size but with Märklin C track. Due to the impressive size of 7.50 x 13.50 x 6.50 m, all kinds of, but exclusively US motifs can be seen. You will find some scenes, known from various feature films, on the layout. The layout is not modeled on any era. Whatever the builder likes is what is driven. Children will have fun with it.

H0m gauge: Point to point RhB layout Switzerland with reverse loops.
The GARM group is coming with an H0m layout with new modules that have never been shown in this configuration in Germany before.
GARM stands for “Groupe Amis Réseau Modulaire” and is based in Echandens, Switzerland.
The focus is on the Litzirüti station on the RhB line to Arosa. The entire line has a length of over 20 meters and is operated via three analog control panels. In addition to the Litzirüti station, a dead-end station is operated where the trains are reassembled. The other end of the modular layout leads to a gravel works. Another module shows the operation of a Swiss military barracks.
As usual with GARM, there are countless little scenes to discover on this layout, created with a lot of imagination and skill.

HO + N gauge (3 layouts): Next to the main line / two sides two motifs / mountain scenery in a picture frame
HO layout theme next to the main line:
We present our branch line on 500 x 60 cm, the station has 250 x 60 cm and the rest is landscape with a lifting bridge over a river. We will only be able to shunt here, which has its own special charm.
N Attachment Topic Two-page attachment:
The layout is 100 x 60 cm in size, i.e. a so-called small layout. On one side you can see a small village with a stopping point, and if you walk around the layout, there is a ruined castle and a hiking trail on the other side.
N Plant theme picture frame plant:
The layout is 200 x 60 cm and the section of the picture frame is 120 x 60 cm. You can see a mountain landscape with a small stop, a hiking trail, mountain climbers, the Faller car system and much more.

H0 gauge: Consolidated Nickel Mines Co.
This layout shows the loading station, railroad line and final loading station of a fictitious nickel mine in the American Southwest.
An underground conveyor belt moves the ore (nickel sulphide) along an adit, and loads a two-way hoist, which lifts and loads the mineral to a primary buffer silo. From here, a conveyor transports the mineral to a secondary silo, from which a small conveyor transports the mineral to a pivoting hopper that loads the freight cars.
The loaded freight wagons travel along a private railroad line to an unloading station. Here, a rotary railcar dumper automatically unloads the wagons into two large hoppers, from which the mineral is transported for further processing. As in the original, the dumper’s exit ramp is equipped with a self-propelled railcar positioner; the maneuvers can be performed with or without locomotives. The speed of the trains and the mass throughput of the loading machines are accurately maintained on a realistic H0 scale.
The H0 layout was created completely from scratch and from my own designs.

System size: 6 x 1.5 m
H0 gauge: Rhaetian Railway / Filisur-Preda / Albula Valley
The system was built according to the Swiss model, the Albula Valley of the Rhaetian Railway.
The layout shows the section of line from Bergün to Preda. The layout builders were specially on site and looked at and measured many things in order to be able to recreate them true to the original. Many details, such as the hiking trail, the pass road and the barbecue area, can be found in their original places on the layout.
The special feature of the layout is the realistic representation of the section of track. The view of the valley with its 4 stone arch viaducts, over which the train crosses the valley, comes into its own. The train works its way up the artificially lengthened track by means of loops and hairpin bends, following the original model.
The highest point of the system is over 2 meters above the ground.
There are sturdy wooden platforms for visitors to stand on to get a good view of the facility at the highest points.
All the buildings were constructed by the company itself. These are mainly the Preda and Filisur railroad stations.

H0 gauge: Ruinaulta (Vorderrhein gorge RhB)
The Rhine Gorge (Ruinaulta) of the Vorderrhein, the ”Grand Canyon of Switzerland”, was formed after the Flims landslide 10,000 years ago and is now a fascinating natural landscape.
The Rhaetian Railway RhB has been running through the gorge for 111 years, after this route was chosen and built as a narrow-gauge “flat line” for cost reasons. Today, this journey between Reichenau and Ilanz is an extraordinary experience in the midst of otherwise untouched nature, accompanied only by the Rhine and partly by a hiking trail, the stations far away from the villages.
A few selected viewpoints from this route have been reconstructed in 1:87 scale according to the original model (as of approx. 1990). These sections, all in accordance with the MAS-60 standard, can be put together as required to form a layout. Trains ‘from the last century’ run on them.

H0 gauge funfair layout: Fädder Kärwadiorama
On the H0 layout there are numerous rides (approx. 40) and fairground stalls (approx. 100) as well as approx. 25000 figures. The rides include the Top Spin, the Break Dance, the Fun Ship and the latest, the Shake. The rides are all fully functional. They are powered by a total of 12 transformers with 150 VA each. The fairground booths and the carousels are operated by approx. 70000 SMDs from approx. 60 running light controllers. The materials are from the companies Faller, Busch, Noch, Viessmann, Preiser, Brekina, Herpa and Wiking.
My 4m x 4m H0 layout is transported in 5 roll containers including a shelving system, exclusively by truck.
The pure material value is approx. 75,000 €, if you add the working time, we have an estimated value of approx. 200,000 €
After the successful completion of the 2024 exhibitions, I started to overhaul the entire system. Defective stores were repaired or replaced, lights renewed and the power supply overhauled. By mid-2025, the layout shone in new splendor again.

TT gauge: TT-T layout MBC Guben
3 x “T” in the name? That’s easy to explain. The first two “T “s stand for the TT gauge, scale 1:120, which is widely used in eastern Germany. The whole thing was derived from TableTop from the English-speaking world. The third “T” stands for the unusual shape of the layout, which symbolizes a T. This shape was created by moving 3 cell phones while the idea of building a new system was maturing in our company. The result is a system approx. 8 meters wide and up to 3.20 meters deep, which can be dismantled into 3 parts for transport.
A pure fantasy landscape is depicted, with the main focus on train operation. In addition to 2 large stations on the left and right of the layout, there are many bridges and intersecting lines, mainly on the branch line. The branch line dominates the entire upper level in the background. Below this level is the large staging yard, where trains up to 4 meters long can be parked. The control system is digital with components from Rautenhaus.
The landscape was also created from the imagination and does not represent a concrete model. Some motifs from our home town have been recreated. The one or other function button invites the public to discover exciting moving details, for example a hot air balloon flies over the entire layout. Our streets are also a hive of activity thanks to the vehicles we have built ourselves, which are based on chassis from the Faller Car System and the Car Motion System from Noch. A waterfall with real water can also be admired in the middle section of the layout.

N-gauge + H0e: N-gauge America & H0e layout winter landscape
H0e layout “Winter landscape”
The H0e layout with a winter landscape was built in two years and is based on the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn (PLB). The layout is illuminated and is operated digitally and partially automatically. There are some push-button actions.
N – America gauge
This layout consists of approx. 40 modules and is based on the Southern Pacific (SP) before it was taken over by the UP. Trains with up to four locomotives and six meters in length are planned. Some of the vehicles are built in-house. The layout is operated digitally, points are set manually using a lever system.

N gauge: N-Bahn Freunde München modular layout
At the model building fair, the N-Bahn-Freunde München will be presenting an impressive modular layout on a scale of 1:160 (N gauge), which will impress visitors with its variety and attention to detail.
The layout consists of individually designed modules that are owned by the club members or the club. This results in a varied overall picture – with a colorful mix of themes.
A particular highlight is the spacious station on the branch line, which is also connected to a fiddle yard, which enables the assembly of a wide variety of passenger and freight train sets, often true to the original.
A single-track branch line is also connected. Only steam and diesel locomotives run here and provide a nostalgic flair.
The layout also has a lot to offer in terms of scenery: From industrial areas to rural scenes and detailed small town scenarios to a castle and monastery complex, each module reflects the creativity and model-making expertise of the club members.
The entire system is controlled analog and is blocked. Members of the N-Bahn Freunde München will be on hand to answer questions. Anyone who is enthusiastic about model railroads or simply enjoys a fascinating hobby should definitely not miss this stand.

N Gauge: Energy & Railroad
The 2-track main line with more than 100 m of track, 40 points and 40 blocks extends over several levels with branches and approx. 20 trains up to 2 m long in a block system! The model railroad layout has a background as a mirror. This makes the plant appear twice as deep!
The model railroad layout has a 50 m staging yard, several tunnels, large bridges, commuter rail stations, a drivable 4-track rail ferry, a port facility with parking garage, canal with barges, a dam, a steam engine museum, an oil refinery, a power plant, a substation, several grain silos, a substation, a railroad museum, a transformer plant, and an old gas coking plant!
In addition, all buildings are changed and equipped with LED lighting systems. The very varied model railroad layout will captivate them!

N gauge: Hanami in Japan
The modular layout was created without a specific model based on Japanese motifs and operating situations. The colorful spring became the trademark of the layout. The analog double-track main line connects a suburban-like station and village with a railroad depot, stabling yard for locomotives, harbor area, mountain landscape and tunnel facilities. Highlights are our faithful “monsters” Godzilla, Mothra and Mecha-Godzilla, which enrich the modular layout in different positions, as well as the somewhat scaled-down “old” Tokyo Tower and “new” Tokyo Skytree in the suburban station. In the latter section, many vehicles have been elaborately illuminated so that the city flair comes across even in the dark. Up to 4 trains can be moved simultaneously on the 2 separate rings, and there are also train and shunting movements to marvel at in the depot and stabling yard. From steam locomotives from the post-war period to the most modern multiple units, such as Shinkansen, of today. Well-known Shinkansen names such as “Hayabusa”, “Kamome” and “Nozomi” can be found as well as the older Blue Trains “Hokutosei”, “Cassiopeia” or “Twilight Express” and express trains “Raicho”, “Tsubasa” or “Hato”. The variety is very large and offers many encounters from old to new.
For the first time, we are showing the mini-modules of one of our members in a special area. These modules encourage you to build them on your kitchen table at home and can be assembled into a layout in a very short time. Here, mainly shorter trains are presented, as can be seen in the rural regions of Japan.

N gauge: Swiss SBB Alpine line St. Niklaus
A Swiss SBB Alpine route on two square meters? Hardly possible, but worth a try. With a clever route layout, many viaducts, tunnels and details reminiscent of the Swiss railroad, an attempt has been made to recreate this atmosphere in a small space.
A branch line branches off at a through station and leads over many bridges and tunnels to the terminus station at St. Niklaus.
St. Niklaus station has two tracks for railcars. Niklaus station has two tracks for railcars and another two tracks where the arriving locomotives have to make headway before they can leave the station again with the locomotive facing forwards.
This “headway” can be done very impressively using servo uncouplers.
Danger, signalling and switching is done digitally with Selectrix. I use the Traincontroller 9.0 software via a laptop.
The St Niklaus layout has a 3-track staging yard on the main line and a 4-track staging yard on the branch line. This allows a varied train operation with several trains.

N Gauge: The Bahnhofsstrooß & The Bass Railway
The Bahnhofsstrooß: A drivable diorama in N scale. A streetcar shuttling back and forth in “de Bahnhofsstrooß” in the late post-war period. The shop windows are set up and illuminated. Several scenes can be seen on the small area, including an arrest by the police, an elderly woman “asking” her sweetheart with an umbrella not to look after the light girls… or sometimes a curtain hangs out of the window because there is a draught. The scene is accompanied by an appropriate “urban” sound. The trees in the ruins are self-made from broom, sea moss and flockage.
The bass track: A shunting scene, also N gauge, embedded in a bass guitar case.
Both tracks are equipped with lighting from above. The Bass-Bahn is slightly lower and, due to its construction, is viewed from above, while the Bahnhofsstrooß can be viewed at eye level.
