FASZINATION MODELLBAU Friedrichshafen with Echtdampf-Hallentreffen & LEGO Fan Exhibition, 3 to 5 November 2023
Preparations are underway for the world’s largest model building event! Together with the Echtdampf-Hallentreffen and the LEGO Fan Exhibition, FASZINATION MODELLBAU Friedrichshafen will open its doors from the 3rd through the 5th of November, 2023. Renowned companies from the industry sector have already announced their participation – shortly after registration began. It’ll be a hot trade fair autumn on Lake Constance.
All Segments for all Generations
Aircraft, ship and truck modelling, RC cars, steam engines, railways and the fascinating world of the LEGO Fan Exhibition: this mega trade fair offers simply everything – for all generations. Visitors will experience three days of intensive shows and new product presentations at the tri-border region on Lake Constance, and they can also choose to be smack in the middle of numerous hands-on activities and events.
Airshow with Alpine Panorama: FMT Stars of the Year
You won’t find it anywhere else: a model airshow on a commercial airfield. The best pilots of the year present their skills against the backdrop of a unique mountain panorama at Bodensee Airport Friedrichshafen. Champions at the German, European and international levels will go beyond the limits and demonstrate what’s possible today with their spectacular aerial performances. All model flight disciplines will be on hand – from highly dynamic jets and large-scale, true-to-life models to thrilling 3D helicopter aerobatics and physically demanding glider competitions.
Newly added manufacturer demonstrations will provide for a perfect mix, where the best innovations of the coming season will be showcased for the first time – live in the sky. And the year’s top products will be on the starting line at the FMT Adler model displays. As usual, the spectacular airshow will run for the entire duration of the trade fair from Friday through Sunday.
FMT Indoor Action: Crowd Puller in the Foyer
While the FMT Stars of the Year are holding their get-together outside on the grounds of Bodensee Airport Friedrichshafen and the big A3 hangar is humming, the FMT Indoor Action will be drawing crowds into the exhibition hall. And it’s no wonder, considering what’s in store for them here: indoor aircraft with flight weights of only one to two grams, as well as huge homebuilts made of Depron and even impeller jets that fly around corners will be on exhibit in the 30 × 30 metre airfield in the west foyer.
But not only self-built one-of-a-kind models belong to the demonstration repertoire of the FMT Indoor Action, but rather series-produced models as well: models that make indoor flying affordable for everyone, even beginners, will be showcased in the west foyer at the manufacturer’s fly-in.
Truck Course: Heavy Metal in Model Format
Tractors, cranes, tracked vehicles and hydraulically controlled construction machinery – everything is possible on the huge truck model course in hall A4. RC off-road vehicles manoeuvre through extremely difficult terrain, over bridges and rocks, and even have occasion to make use of their cable winches. Nearby, snowcats work their way through the artificial snow and prepare immaculate ski slopes. The manoeuvring skills of the true-to-life RC trucks with their huge, multi-axle, heavy-duty trailers are highly admirable. Excavators shovel away the earth, bulldozers level it and heavy military vehicles forge ahead with impressive effects. An incredible show!
Racing Action with RC Cars and Racing Copters
The counterpart to the truck heavyweights will be held in hall B1: super speedy RC cars in scales of 1:8 and 1:10, as well as RC motorcycles, will roar around the circuit. Not just for show! All standings are contested for fiercely at the German Open RC Car Masters, where the best pilots on the scene compete against one another.
High-frequency racing sounds can be heard emanating from hall B4 as well: the racing copters shoot around the pylons like insects in their quest to claim the podium at the FPV Drone Championship finals. A must-see.
Captain’s License on the Large Water Basin
RC sailboats passing majestically across the tranquil blue waters can be enjoyed by visitors at the 400 square metre indoor pool in hall A5 and outside on the trade fair lake. And that’s not all! Racing boats surge by churning up mighty fountains, and even a burning ship is extinguished during an emergency sea rescue exercise. Once again this year, future ship model builders will be able to earn the highly coveted captain’s licence at the children’s sailing event.
With All Five Senses: Echtdampf-Hallentreffen
It smokes, steams and stomps: Two entire exhibition halls are required at the extensive grounds in Friedrichshafen to accommodate the more than four kilometres of track – which is also unique throughout the world. And best of all: the highly fascinating, scaled-down railways at Echtdampf-Hallentreffen are not just for looking at. We’re even allowed to climb aboard and ride through the course! And it’s just as exciting next to the tracks when the snorting, street-running steam engines operated by numerous exhibitors pass by.
The Model Railway Layouts that Dreams are Made Of
They travel through dioramas rich in detail, over precisely recreated historical bridges, to legendary railway stations and through alpine passes: model railway layouts in all gauges can be found in halls A1 and A2 – as well as top manufacturers from the industry sector with locomotives, track systems and the finest detailing accessories. Children and adults are amazed and enraptured, and they’re also able to discover their own creativity at the many hands-on workstations in order to get a feel for this fascinating hobby, or to exchange ideas and get advice from experts.
Fascinating World of LEGO Bricks
The cult bricks are returning to Friedrichshafen and they’ll fill hall A6 to the brim: with famous buildings, even entire districts, streets and settings. It’s a colourful world all of its own into which visitors can fully immerse themselves at the LEGO Fan Exhibition – a world created with incredible precision and attention to detail using LEGO bricks alone. Here too, not only are we amazed, we’re also able to work with the bricks ourselves at the numerous, creative hands-on workstations.
