FaszinationModellbau Karlsruhe doesn’t just show models on display and for sale – it also gives you the opportunity to actively participate in modelling. Herearesomeof the projects available, suitable for adults and youngsters:
Outdoor / Airfield
Flying for everyone
On Sunday 25.March 2012we present the new project “Flying for Everyone” with the participation of numerous renowned manufacturers.Under the guidance of professional flight instructors, spectators can actually fly amodel themselves. With our new teacher-pupil system, adults and children (of 8 years and over) can gain their first flight experience without the fear of causing a crash!

Simulated model flying
Adults and youngsters can start off by testing their flying skills at flight simulator computer stations.
Building a flyable model rocket
Under the expert guidance of rocket modelling club “Raketenmodellsportverein 82”, visitors learn how to build a flyable and re-usable model rocket (involves a small fee).
HGV Raketenmodelltechnik (Rocket modelling hobby group)
Visitors can choose here between various types of flyable rocket models, e.g. with a parachute. After payment of a fee, they will be shown how to build the model and receive expert information on how rocket models work and how they return safely to earth so that they can be used again (flight height up to 300 metres, speed up to 360 km/h).
DMC - GermanMinicar Club “Race of Champions”
Electric RC cars
The “Race of Champions” takes place hourly. Visitors can take part in the race heats and compete for Champion of the Day.Feel the atmosphere of a real race! Visitors can test their skills driving electric RC cars.
Driving a remote controlled miniaturecar
On DMC’s Mini Z track, visitors can try their skills at driving the superfast remote controlled Mini Z model cars.
Building a cardboard model car
At the DMC stand youngsters can prove their dexterity by creating a cardboard car model which they can take home with them.
Slot car racing
Carreraracing tracks are well-known worldwide. This type of car track is called a slot car race track. A school group from the RealschuleAlthengstettinvites you to try out slot racing on their special track and give lots of advice on how to drive the fastest round.
Mini-Z Race by Kyosho
Adults and youngsters can test-drive Kyosho’s superfast remote controlled MiniZ model cars. These are the smallest and nimblest remote controlled cars at the fair and have a charm of their own. Don’t miss the chance to try it out!

Roadworker Arena
Battle of the Diggers
Take your seat (an original digger seat!) and prove your prowess and patience in the Damitz Digger Duel. The fully hydraulic model diggers are steered by means of a joystick. Compete with your friends and prove that you are the best digger operator!
Put your model to the test
Bring your own model with you and test it yourself on the original Scale Art Challenge test benches. Find out what your model is capable of, its driving force, how steep a slope it can master on an adjustable ramp, or the light efficiency of its headlights. Skill at the controls is also needed, to balance the model on a seesaw or manoeuvre it across difficult terrain.
Cardboard Modelling
Members of the cardboard modelling club “InteressengemeinschaftKartonmodellbau” will be glad to answer your questions and demonstrate solutions for your problems. Come to the club’s stand and talk to the modellers.
Marine modelling on the boating pool
The ship modelling club of Heilbronn is in charge of the large pool, where youngsters will be introduced to the art of marine modelling. Their skill will be rewarded with a captain’s license.
Prior registration at the stand is necessary!
“Kids‘ Wharf”by model boat club Minisaile.V.
For the third time, model clubIG Minisaile.V. will be organizing the popular “Kids’ Wharf”. Childrenbetween 7 and 16 years of age can join in the action and build their own sailing boat under expert guidance and then put it to sea on a specially constructed 4 x 3 metre pool. Thanks to a row of small ventilators, wind conditions on the water are ideal. After the launching and a trial run the children can take their model home with them. The two-hour craft group takes up to 20 children at a time.
RC driving license with tractor models
TheOrtenauer Truck and Ship ModellingClub offers children the chance to obtain their RC driving license using specially converted remote control tractor models.
NEW in 2012: More experienced RC drivers with an RC driving license can also gain a license in RC fork-lift truck driving.The half-hour driving lessons start once an hour, with the time of the next group displayed at the layout area.

Model Railway Club Waiblingen
Members of MEC Waiblingen and the Stuttgart railway charity “Modellbahn 65" give useful tips on scenery and landscape modelling. They will also be glad to answer any questions concerning control technology and digital technology.
Model Railway Junior College Europa
BDEF, the Association of German Model Railway Clubs, organise “Junior College”, where youngsters are introduced to railway modelling in twelve playful and instructive steps. On each day of the fair the best ‘students’ win attractive prizes, that are presented at 4 o’clock every afternoon.
Children can also create a little diorama and take it home with them.
ICE train driver
At their stand,ModelleisenbahnMünchen GmbH (ROCO & Fleischmann) offer a play corner where children can build a track layout and run an intercity train,thus combining fun with an uncomplicated introduction to modelling as a hobby.
Viessmann-kibri Crafts Garden
The Viessmann-kibriCrafts Garden gives visitors practical tips on building model kits, the use of materials for landscape modelling, and also expert information concerning electronics. All interested visitors are welcome to the Crafts Garden and of course the kits constructed at the stand can be taken home.
Robust model railway for all ages
TilligModellbahnen GmbH has a model railway play area for children of all ages, fitted out with robust bedding tracks, transformer and rolling stock suitable for children. With plenty of playing materials such as building blocks, cargo and additionaltracks, there will be no limits to the children’s creativity.

Forklift trial area by Dickie-Tamiya
Have you always wanted to drive a forklift truck? Test your driving skills on the special trial layout with RC forklift trucks, pallets and a lorry.
FighterCup by Dickie-Tamiya
TAMIYA and CARSON-MODELSPORT present their latest RC models in action, for example the well-known Fighter models by TAMIYA that compete for the TAMIYA FIGHTERCUP. Of course visitors can also have a go at steering, and children up to 14 years of age can compete in races on the action circuit. Daily winners compete for a cup and other prizes.Prior registration at the stand is necessary!
BWLV - Baden-Württembergischer Luftfahrtverband
The aviation and aero sport associations of the three German states Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Baden-Württemberg combine forces to offer various workshops and one-to-one conversations on the following topics:
* You need to repair your GRP model? (Sat. + Sun., 2 – 5 pm)
* What does “vacuum technology” mean?
* How are GRP moulds and masterforms made?
* How do I calculate the configurationof my electric drive?
* Cooling system for electric motors – what must I watch out for?
* The new registration regulations for the extension of model airfields into airfields for gliders and motorised aircraft
